Over recent months the CCBC has been meeting with Ricardo Cervantes director of the Dept. of Safety and Inspections, city councilman Melvin Carter and city council president Kathy Lantry to discuss issues citizens are having with building code enforcement. These meetings have been somewhat productive. The CCBC is looking forward to future meetings with representives of the city.

Thanks to the effort of the Capital City Business Council, it’s members and supporters, the dedication of many of the small business and property owners along the Central Corridor LRT route, and all the supporters of the coalition to Defer, Defund, or Defeat the Central Corridor Light Rail Transit; the Met Council decided to increase financial assistance to $11.1 million for businesses that are struggling during construction of the Central Corridor light-rail project. Although this is a small step on our mission to completely defeat the entire project, the increase in financial assistance will hopefully prevent dozens of businesses from having to close down shop for good before the construction can be stopped.
