FTA Complaint Signed

Over 40 business owners met and signed a summery complaint to be filed on behalf of the University Ave. community July 22. During a 45-minute meeting held at the Lao Family Community Center comments were received and concerned express by the University Ave. community. More signatures will be sought in support of FTA complaint. The full complaint can be found here.

The Capital City Business Council Board voted July 29th to file a complaint with Federal Transit Administration on behalf of its members and businesses on proposed LRT central corridor system. After reviewing a sampling of the survey commissioned by CCBC, the board of directors concluded a complaint would be submitted outlining unaddressed concerns of the business and property owners of the University Ave. community. A summary complaint will be prepared for signing by interested parties July 22nd.

The Capital City Business Council in response to member inquiry commissioned a survey of the businesses on University Ave. The survey will record concerns and support of the Light Rail System proposed, connecting Minneapolis and Saint Paul. The survey will begin June 8th and is slated to be completed June 29th. Some results will be reported at the June 29th board meeting. The complete report is due before the Metropolitan Council’s community comment deadline July 27th.

The Capital City Business Council, was recruited to help Saint Paul businesses in need. This time, it was the hospitality industry facing a successive double-digit license and fee increase. Hotels, bars, and restaurants had not yet begun to recover from the loss of business precipitated by the Smoking Ban, and aggravated by a double-digit license and fee hike from the previous year.
